Founder's desk

Our devotees and public people once gave us some great advice about philanthropy: "Don’t just go for safe projects," GURUJI said. "Take on the really tough problems."

Our efforts in India: our work has expanded to medical, education, yoga, spirituality and culture. Together with our partners, we deliver results none of us could achieve by acting alone.

We believe that all lives have equal value, and that by working together we can help reduce inequality and poverty. In collaboration with our people, we are working to improve the lives of Nearly half of the people in India by addressing challenges related to health, education and hinduism development.

For each issue we work on, we fund innovative ideas that could help remove these barriers: new tools to prevent and treat deadly diseases; new methods to help students and teachers in the classroom. Some of the projects we fund will fail. We not only accept that, we expect it—because we think an essential role of philanthropy is to make bets on promising solutions that governments and businesses can’t afford to make. As we learn which bets pay off.

We can recognise that the narrative of this epic voyage is greater than all of us; that we are as much being written into history as we are writing it ourselves. That recognition means we can’t claim all the glory for the triumphs but neither should we believe ourselves solely responsible for the failures. That recognition teaches us humility, which makes us open to learning.

We may falter but we will not fail.

At Shri Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar Mutt, we have not stopped praying for you.

With warmest good wishes,

Sincerely,
Shri Shri Karunanidhi Swamigal
